New Maria Live poker champion is Asa Holmberg from Sweden!

Our Super Sit and Go kicked off at 19:00 local time, on Friday at the Hilton hotel in Malta.

 We hosted 3 Swedish ladies: Asa (alias) the reigning Swedish female online poker champion, Anja and Therese, mother and daughter who both qualified for the live tournament via our satellites in two different weekly finals. These 3 were joined by Mie and Pernille from Denmark and Mercedes from Spain. The players started with 10K in chips, with 25min blind levels. Although many would expect a slow start for the deep stacked STT, the pots were pumping up in the very early levels. First, Baranquerro took a huge blow against the Swedish champion. she managed to keep in front just a small part of her stack, leaving her barely alive in the game and in firm 6th position.

 Therese was the first player out right before the 4th level break. Deciding to slow play and stick to her pocket JJ against Anja’s 55’s full of 88’s on the turn. Mercedes was the second one out. In a similar encounter, JJ in the hole for Asa against the A Rag of the very short stacked Spanish player sends her out.

 A few rounds later, Anja found herself in a similar situation playing A3 and running into JJ of Asa. The Ace came on the flop followed by a Jack for a winning 3 of a kind of the at the time chip leader- Asa Holmberg.    

Unexpected exit on the third place for Pernille. The clash of the two massive stacks! Asa’s QQ against Pernilles AQ. The queens held up till the end, doubling Asa up to around 53 000 in poker chips and the trophy at her reach. Very short stacked at this point sitting with less than 8 BB’s, near the end of the 6th blind level, Mie had to settle down for the second place leaving Asa with the trophy and the larger chunk of the 1000€ prize pool.
